ABBEY PLACE TOWNHOUSE
This renovation of an existing townhouse created a unique style for a baker. By removing a poorly placed half bath that divided a relatively small footprint, the open plan living provides ample space for entertaining and cooking while creating a space that is as once timeless and modern. -
Capitol Hill Garden
This garden for a Capitol Hill Rowhome developed out of the client's desire for a multipurpose space that was simultaneously calming and engaging. Places for repose and for play balance each other withing the design anchored by a stepping stone labyrinth. -
Studio O Apartment
This gut renovation of a 500 square foot apartment was developed into a open plan living concept. Removing a dark narrow entry hallway, opening up the kitchen, and judicious use of storage make this clean modern space feel much larger. Care was taken to make the unit convertible for use by any potential future tenant increasing the marketability of the space. -
GeekEasy Co-Working Space
This renovation to a 1930's warehouse building transformed a room formerly used by a charter school into one of the premiere tech co-working spaces in Washington DC. Streamlined color and spatial definition create quadrants of activities and breakout spaces for impromptu meetings, conferences and team gatherings as well as taking well deserved naps. -
Flying Fish Coffee and Tea
This small coffee and tea shop in NW DC is designed as a simple neighborhood gathering spot. Simple, clean lines and colors make the space stand out as a unique and comfortable place to relax. The side walls are left blank to function as gallery walls to promote local artists. -
SW Townhouse
This renovation to a 1960's townhouse condominium was created with off the shelf casework. By utilizing two differing door styles and opening up the kitchen to the rest of the living floor, the space is now a focal point for gathering, socializing and preparing. -
Hopkins Street Residence
This renovation of an 1885 brick townhome in Dupont Circle transformed a once dark and divided footprint into a light-filled living and entertaining space. Strategic use of casework for storage generated a linear living space divided into functional zones. Modern lines combine with original period details of the house to create a unique and comfortable meld of old and new. -
Beekman Place Kitchen
This renovation of an outdated galley style kitchen developed into a flowing linear space through strategic removal of walls and reconfiguring of cabinets and appliances. Ample task and display lighting play off of the glass front cabinets and white traditional fronts turning the kitchen into a timeless and functional space. -
Porch, Arlingon VA
This proposed porch involved a design for a three-season porch to create and outdoor living/dining room. Raising the roof allowed the porch to 'float' above the existing house and allow west sun and breezes through a clerestory opening. The joinery details suggested a modern interpretation of a pagoda while the trapezoidal planform allowed expansive views into the backyard. -
THRIVE DC
Creating a new functional office space for a nonprofit which previously occupied a warren of dark rooms. The new space identifies the functions by utilizing the colors of the organizations logo.
